The victim said he received a call on May 25 from an unregistered number. The caller introduced himself as a bank representative and claimed that a replacement ATM card would be delivered.
Recalling the conversation, the man said, "Sinabi niya na may darating sa akin na ATM na hindi ko naman po alam na wala palang ganon ang banking."
He added that he was instructed not to leave his home until June 5 because the new ATM card would supposedly arrive.

Following the caller's instructions, the man stayed home and waited. However, no replacement card came. He eventually decided to visit an ATM to withdraw money, only to discover that his account balance had already been wiped out.
When he checked his transaction history, he learned that unauthorized withdrawals and online transfers had started on May 29. The first recorded transaction reportedly involved P70,000 before the remaining balance was gradually drained, leaving him with a total loss of P230,000.
The victim became emotional as he recalled the moment he realized his savings were gone.
"E nanginginig po ako. Halos bumagsak ako kasi last money ko po 'yan na panghawakan," he shared.
According to the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, the incident bears the hallmarks of a voice phishing scheme. Cybercriminals often pretend to represent banks or other financial institutions to gain the trust of their targets and persuade them to reveal confidential information.
Authorities explained that victims sometimes fail to notice that they have already shared sensitive personal or banking details because scammers sound convincing and create a sense of urgency.
Investigators also said the stolen funds were reportedly transferred through online banking transactions. The victim is now coordinating with both the PNP and his bank in the hope that some of the lost money can still be recovered.
The man urged others to remain cautious when receiving unexpected phone calls.
"Huwag po talagang magtitiwala sa mga tawag. I-validate po at huwag ibigay ang mga OTP. I-secure po ang mga data," he reminded.
The report serves as another warning for the public to verify the identity of anyone claiming to represent a bank before sharing personal or financial information over the phone.
