According to a report by Jomer Apresto on GMA’s Unang Balita, authorities served a warrant of arrest on the minor on September 7.
Police said the teenager was allegedly among those involved in beating the victim during the confrontation on February 9, 2026.
The Grade 10 student, identified in the report only as alias “JC,” was involved in an altercation behind a school in Baseco that night.

According to the Manila Police District, the confrontation allegedly stemmed from an earlier issue involving JC’s girlfriend, who was a teammate of the other teenager in sepak takraw.
The report said another boy allegedly stabbed JC during the confrontation.
JC was still able to walk away from the area but later collapsed. He was rushed to a hospital but eventually died.
The teenager accused of the stabbing was arrested shortly after the February incident.
Months later, authorities identified the 14-year-old as another person allegedly involved in what happened.
“Ang participation niya doon sa insidente na ’yon, kasama siya sa bugbog sa biktima na eventually namatay sa ospital,” a police official said in the Unang Balita report.
Police also said the warrant was shown to the teenager while his parent was present.
According to the official, the minor acknowledged that he was present during the incident.
Because the latest person taken into custody is only 14 years old, authorities said the case will go through the proper process for children in conflict with the law.
The teenager has been turned over to the Manila Youth Reception Center.
Police explained that they will continue their investigation, while the assessment on discernment will be handled by social welfare authorities.
“Ang gagawin ng pulis, mag-i-investigate pero yung discernment nasa DSWD level na. Ngayon kapag naglabas ng discernment yung DSWD, yun ang ifa-file namin sa fiscal,” the police official said.
Authorities were also still trying to get the side of the teenager’s family and the victim’s family at the time of the report.

According to a report by GMA News' "Unang Balita," the victim was shot in the head at around 4 p.m. The gunman reportedly escaped immediately after the attack.
