A school in Barangay Sauyo, Quezon City was robbed of more than P313,000 worth of equipment and cash after two men allegedly entered the compound past midnight on Saturday.

According to James Agustin’s report on GMA’s Unang Balita on August 26, CCTV footage showed one man climbing over a railing inside the school. He was later seen inside the administrative office, where he appeared to search through the area. His alleged accomplice was also captured by a security camera.

The school caretaker discovered the incident the following morning. Scattered belongings were found inside the office, prompting the caretaker to report the matter to the police.

Investigators said the door of the administrative office had been damaged. Among the items reported missing were cellphones, hard drives, and cash intended for the teachers’ salaries.

The combined value of the stolen equipment and money reached more than P313,000.

Based on the initial investigation, the intruders allegedly used a vacant lot behind the campus as their entry point. Police said they climbed a wall and passed through the roof to reach the school compound.

Authorities then reviewed additional CCTV footage from nearby establishments. The two men were seen inside a computer shop more than an hour before the school was robbed.

Neither of them had covered his face. This helped investigators determine their identities.

An employee reportedly recognized one of the men by his long hair and showed police where he lived. Investigators also used a visible tattoo to help identify the other person.

During a follow-up operation, officers arrested a 24-year-old suspect at his home, which was located only a few meters away from the school.

The arrested man claimed that he merely accompanied the other suspect and did not plan the break-in.

“Sumama lang po ako doon, sir. Siya po ang nagplano noon, sir,” he said in the report.

He later directed authorities to a part of the vacant lot where several of the stolen items had allegedly been hidden. Police recovered some property from the area.

In another report, Stephen Gelo Enriquez, a 38-year-old teacher, died after being shot outside his home in Barangay Poblacion, Sta. Maria, Bulacan. According to a Balitanghali report, the incident happened shortly after midnight on July 30. Police said the victim’s sister was inside their house when she heard a loud gunshot. She immediately went outside to check what had happened and found her brother seriously injured. The teacher was brought to a hospital for medical attention but later passed away.

Meanwhile, a man was shot dead outside a school in Barangay Prinza, Teresa, Rizal, on Thursday afternoon, triggering a police manhunt and leaving his family grieving. According to a report by GMA News' "Unang Balita," the victim was shot in the head at around 4 p.m. The gunman reportedly escaped immediately after the attack.
