Three minors in Bacolod City escaped an attempted robbery when they ran from a man who suddenly approached them in Barangay Villamonte.

The incident was featured in a Balitanghali report and uploaded by GMA Regional TV on August 24, 2026. The official video described the three victims as minors and said the attempted robbery was caught on camera.
Based on the report, the children were walking together along a road in the barangay when an e-trike stopped near them. A male passenger then stepped out and moved toward the group.
The man reportedly grabbed the girl without warning.

“Mabilis niyang hinila ang batang babae,” the news narration said.
His sudden action startled the young victims. They screamed and immediately ran away from him. Their quick response allowed them to create distance before anything else could happen.
Instead of returning to the vehicle right away, the suspect chased after the children. However, he lost his footing and fell while trying to catch them.
“Hinabol sila ng lalaki pero nadapa,” the report added.
After failing to reach the minors, the man went back to the e-trike. He boarded the vehicle again before it left the area.
According to some residents, the location has often been targeted by holduppers and thieves looking for possible victims. Their account raised concern about security in the neighborhood, especially for children walking in the area.
Police assured the public that more personnel would be assigned to patrol the community. The move would increase police visibility following the attempted robbery.

According to a report on GMA's Unang Balita, the incident happened after the 22-year-old suspect reportedly caused trouble during a dance in the barangay.
