A 58-year-old grandmother and her four-month-old grandchild died after a kolong-kolong and an SUV collided in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte.

According to a report aired by GMA’s Unang Balita, the woman and the baby were passengers of the kolong-kolong when the accident happened along a diversion road.

The force of the collision threw the driver and the passengers into a roadside canal. The grandmother and her infant grandchild did not survive the incident.

Their names were not released in the report. No other personal information about the two victims was provided.

Two other individuals were hurt in the crash. They were identified only as the kolong-kolong driver and another passenger.

Both injured victims were brought to a hospital and were recovering at the time of the report. Authorities did not give further information about the nature or severity of their injuries.

Based on the initial police investigation, the kolong-kolong allegedly entered the diversion road without warning. The SUV then collided with the smaller vehicle.
