A 43-year-old motorcycle rider died after being hit by a passenger jeep along General Luna Avenue in San Mateo, Rizal.

The fatal road accident happened at around 6 p.m., according to a report by Unang Balita.
CCTV footage shown in the report captured the jeep moving into the opposite lane before hitting the motorcycle.
Based on the initial police investigation, the jeep had just come out of a garage when its driver reportedly tried to overtake another vehicle.

Authorities said the driver swerved while overtaking but was unable to return to his lane. The jeep then continued into the opposite lane, where it collided with the motorcycle.
The impact was strong enough to send the jeep toward the gate of the San Mateo Roman Catholic Cemetery. Part of the gate was damaged, while oil from the vehicle was also seen on the road following the crash.
The victim suffered severe injuries and was rushed to a hospital. However, the motorcycle rider was declared dead on arrival.
Jennifer, the victim's 48-year-old live-in partner, said the rider was on the way home from work when the accident happened.
Still grieving over what happened, she shared an emotional message for her partner.
“Han, maraming maraming salamat. Sana lagi mo akong babantayan. Hindi ko kaya, hindi ko alam kung anong gagawin ko kung wala ka,” Jennifer said.
Responding police officers immediately arrested the 20-year-old driver following the collision.
Police said the jeep had only a few passengers at the time of the accident. No other person was reported injured.
An officer also explained what investigators initially found about the moments leading to the crash.
“Nag-overtake, nag-swerve sa inovertake niyang sasakyan at hindi nabawi kaya tuloy-tuloy siya sa kabilang lane at nabangga nga po itong biktima,” the officer said.
Authorities also confirmed that both the driver and the passenger jeep had complete documents.
The driver declined to give a statement regarding the incident while in the custody of the San Mateo Municipal Police Station.
Police said he is set to face a complaint for reckless imprudence resulting in hόmicide and damage to property.
Authorities are continuing to handle the case following the fatal accident and the arrest of the jeep driver.
