“No choice but to take her in”: Joseph Marco, ipinakilala ang bagong inampon at iniuwi sa bahay

Joseph Marco has once again expanded his feline family after rescuing another stray cat, sharing the story during a video interview with ABS-CBN News at the launch of OWNDAYS’ Cases for Change 2026 in Mandaluyong City on Wednesday.

The actor and model revealed that he had found the kitten only a day before the event. According to Joseph, he was on his way home from the gym when he spotted the small cat on top of a vending machine.

“Yesterday lang may napulot ako. Coming from the gym, may nakita akong kitten sa taas ng vending machine,” Joseph said.

He explained that he tried calling the cat and soon realized that the animal was severely dehydrated. Seeing the kitten in that condition prompted him to intervene rather than simply leave it where he found it.

“I called the cat. Sobrang dehydrated. I had no choice but to take her in,” he recalled.

Joseph later named the rescued cat Cosmo. The latest addition means the actor now technically has 19 cats under his care, a number that reflects just how deeply he has embraced his role as a rescuer and pet owner.

“Right now I technically have 19,” Joseph said.

While caring for such a large number of animals naturally comes with significant responsibilities, Joseph said his living situation allows his cats to move around comfortably. He also acknowledged that he does not handle the responsibility entirely by himself, noting that he has someone who helps him with their care.

“Thankfully I have a huge place. Nakaka-ikot sila and may tumutulong sa akin mag-alaga,” he explained.

For Joseph, however, the decision to rescue animals is not necessarily about whether adding another pet would be convenient. His comments suggested that his concern for animals in need often outweighs the question of whether he is taking on another responsibility.

“Minsan kapag tiniis mo, pag hinayaan mo, yeah no added reaponsibility,” he said.

He then explained why he finds it difficult to simply walk away from animals that appear to need assistance.

“But based on my experience hinahaunt ako ’pag ’di ko natulungan ang dapat matulungan,” Joseph added.

Over the years, Joseph has repeatedly shared encounters with stray cats and used his social media presence to encourage compassion toward animals, particularly those without homes.

Joseph Marco is a familiar name in Philippine entertainment, having established himself as both an actor and model through numerous television and film appearances. Away from his showbiz career, he has become equally recognizable for his devotion to cats and has embraced the role of a committed “cat dad.” He has also used his public platform to promote kindness toward stray animals and encourage people to consider adoption.

Joseph previously moved social media users with footage documenting another rescue involving a stray kitten he encountered alone during a typhoon in Metro Manila. The emotional series of clips showed him carefully retrieving the soaked kitten before bringing it home. He subsequently fed the animal, held and comforted it, and even gave the rescued kitten a gentle kiss, turning the experience into a touching glimpse of his compassion for animals in distress.

In an earlier incident, Joseph was also seen helping a stray cat outside a gym near Rotonda Square in Dagupan, Pangasinan. A netizen named Alshan Eihrin happened to witness the actor’s interaction with the animal at around 11 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, and captured the heartwarming moment on camera. The encounter became another example of Joseph’s willingness to stop and show kindness to stray cats even when he is simply going about his daily routine.
