In a lengthy post on X, the actor explained that he is currently busy working on a film and is staying at a lock-in taping location with limited signal. He said he was informed that his name was being dragged because of something he had commented years ago.
At first, Dustin said he did not pay much attention to the matter because he wanted to focus on the positive things happening in his life.
However, he eventually decided to address it because the issue was already affecting people close to him.

“But I decided to speak up for the sake of my loved ones, while making sure to do so with respect for the LGBT community,” he wrote.
The actor then explained the context behind the old interaction.
“I replied to a comment on that account maybe around 5 years ago as a joke and simply to interact with people who were tagging me. Wala akong ibang intention behind it,” Dustin said.
The original tweet involved in the discussion has since been deleted and is no longer available on X. However, references and screenshots connected to the old interaction have continued to circulate on social media.

According to him, he only recently learned that the account involved had apparently changed its account identity and content since their old interaction.
He claimed that some people were now using his years-old comment to create a different narrative about him.
“Unfortunately, may mga taong ginagamit ngayon yung old comment ko para gawan ng ibang storya at i-drag ako,” he stated.
Dustin stressed that he knew what he meant when he posted the reply and did not want the old exchange to be interpreted differently from its original intention.
“I know what I meant when I said it, and I won’t let someone twist an old interaction into something it was never meant to be,” he added.
He also said his purpose in issuing the statement was simply to “set the record straight.”
Toward the end of his message, the personality encouraged people to choose kindness despite disagreements or differences in understanding.
“We may not always agree or understand each other, but I hope we can choose to be kinder instead of creating stories that can hurt someone,” he wrote.
He also addressed those who continue to criticize him, saying he hopes they find happiness without having to hurt somebody else.
