Actor-host and PBB Celebrity Collab Edition Big Winner Brent Manalo has finally spoken up about the criticism and hate comments he has been receiving online, asking his bashers for what he described as “a little bit of grace” as his career continues to gain momentum.

In a statement posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, Brent addressed the public perception surrounding him and explained why he had remained silent despite months of negative comments.
“Hi guys! Dropping by to share what's on my mind. I'm not here to change nor dispel your perception of me, but I am asking for a little bit of grace,” he wrote.
Brent said he had chosen not to respond to the backlash for months because he believed his work should speak for itself. He also emphasized that the opportunities he currently enjoys were not simply handed to him.

“For months, I took all the lashings and never said a word cos I'm a firm believer that you should always let your work speak for you.”
The actor-host expressed gratitude toward the management and the people who continue to trust his abilities. At the same time, he pointed out that reaching his current position required years of patience and hard work.
“With all the opportunities being given to me right now, I am truly grateful to the management and everyone who believes in me and my capabilities. But these things were never handed to me, it was years of waiting and hard work. I'll never waste an ounce of opportunity given to me,” he continued.
Brent also shared how the constant scrutiny has affected the way he approaches his work. While he understands that public figures are subject to criticism, he hopes to eventually feel comfortable being himself without having every action or statement closely examined.
“I am simply doing my job. I hope to one day be able to show up to work and not walk on egg shells cause everything I say or do is being watched closely just to fault me for something so minuscule.”
A significant part of the criticism surrounding Brent has also been connected to his stint on Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition, where he emerged as the Big Winner alongside Kapuso star Mika Salamanca.
Brent admitted that his victory had divided opinions among viewers but maintained that the experience remains an important part of his personal journey.
“Admittedly, my win was polarizing but it is my journey and I hope to be able to look back at it with pride. I never once took that win for granted. I owe it to all those who fought for me.”
He also acknowledged that he had made mistakes throughout his journey and said he had repeatedly apologized to people he may have offended.
“I have made mistakes and learned from it. I have apologized time and time again to those whom I've offended. This chapter has been closed, so I hope we can all move forward.”
Despite the strong message, Brent made it clear that he remains willing to listen to criticism when it is intended to help him improve. He said he understands his responsibility as an artist to deliver quality entertainment to audiences.
“I will ALWAYS listen to constructive criticisms. And I'll always try to continuously improve because it is our responsibility to provide quality TV to our audience. I know that it is my job and I have to do it well. I'm still a work in progress and I promise to stay committed,” he shared.
However, Brent drew a firm line between constructive criticism and what he considers unwarranted hatred.
“But if your sole purpose in life is to throw unwarranted hate at me, pls keep your opinions to yourselves cos it will never be acknowledged by me. Hindi po ako punching bag. Maraming salamat po.”
Since his PBB victory, Brent's career has continued to move forward, with several projects and opportunities lined up for him. Among his recent gigs is a stint on the noontime program It's Showtime, which airs from Monday to Saturday at noon on GMA and Kapuso Stream.
Amid the growing number of opportunities, Brent's statement shows that he intends to use the attention surrounding his career as motivation to continue improving while refusing to let unwarranted online hate define his journey.
