A riding-in-tandem robbery attempt inside a subdivision in Barangay Sampagita, San Pedro, Laguna was prevented after barangay tanods noticed the suspects' suspicious movements through CCTV cameras.

According to a report on GMA News' "Unang Balita," the incident happened at around 3 a.m. when two masked men on a motorcycle allegedly attempted to break into a house.
Because the barangay's CCTV operators immediately spotted the pair, tanods quickly responded to the area. Before escaping, one of the suspects reportedly pointed a gun at one of the responding village watchmen.
The tanod recalled the tense encounter.

"Nung nakasakay na siya, biglang nanutok na sa akin 'yun. Nakaharap na sa akin. Tapos pag-andar niya, tinutukan naman yung dalawang kasama ko."
He also shared that the suspect returned before leaving the area.
"Bumalik uli sa akin at tinutukan ako."
The barangay also claimed that the same riding-in-tandem suspects may have been involved in a previous robbery in the area last month. In that incident, the robbers allegedly took several mobile phones and a laptop before firing a gun while fleeing.
At around 5 a.m. the following day, members of the San Pedro Police Station's Station Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a drug operation in Barangay Calendola. During the operation, officers arrested a 31-year-old man after allegedly recovering about one gram of suspected shabu and a revolver.
As the investigation progressed, police discovered that the arrested man was allegedly one of the suspects involved in the attempted robbery inside the subdivision.
Authorities said the responding barangay tanods positively identified the suspect through the tattoo on his neck, which was visible in the investigation.
Police also revealed that the arrested man reportedly has previous cases involving illegal dr*gs and theft.
The recovered firearm has been submitted for ballistic examination to determine whether it had been used in previous shooting incidents. Investigators are also checking if the suspect is connected to another reported robbery in Barangay Sampagita last month.
The suspect remains under the custody of the San Pedro Police Station and may face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Dr*gs Act and the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition. Meanwhile, authorities continue searching for his alleged accomplice, whose identity has reportedly already been established.

Local police are currently conducting a deeper inquiry to determine the specific reasons behind this violent act.
