DJ Jhai Ho has opened up about his involvement in the controversy surrounding the breakup of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, explaining why he eventually chose to speak up in defense of Daniel despite being friends with both stars.

The highly publicized split in November 2023 sparked widespread discussion, with Jhai Ho’s name also becoming part of the conversation after he defended Daniel against online criticism. During his appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on September 8, alongside Kalurks! co-host Ashley Rivera, Jhai Ho discussed the difficulty of navigating the entertainment industry when friendships are involved.
“Actually, Tito Boy, sobrang hirap po na dapat hindi ka papanig sa isa lang at lalo na kung kaibigan mo. Pero siyempre, I remember kasi na na-mention n'yo sa akin, Tito Boy, na dapat it's very, very important the relationship with everybody,” sabi ni Jhai Ho.
Jhai Ho said he initially tried to remain silent because he understood that Kathryn and Daniel were the people who had the right to discuss and defend themselves regarding their relationship.

However, he eventually felt compelled to act after seeing the level of criticism directed toward Daniel.
“Both, kaibigan ko si Kathryn at si Daniel. Pero that time kasi, parang dapang-dapa na si Daniel with everything, with the bashing,” sabi ni DJ Jhai
According to Jhai Ho, his decision was not intended to take sides in the breakup itself. Instead, he saw his actions as those of a friend who wanted to respond to statements he believed were unfair.
“Nanggagaling ako dun sa parang dahil may attack to DJ, na parang at that moment, alam kong hindi totoo 'yung mga sinasabi. So parang para sa 'kin, tumayo lang ako bilang kaibigan, Tito Boy. I forgot nga 'yung sinasabi na public figure din kayo, napapanood din kayo, may boses din kayo,” sabi niya.
The controversy reportedly became serious enough for them to be called in by the network. Jhai Ho said he simply explained his side and reiterated that his intention was to defend Daniel as a friend.
Although Jhai Ho admitted that he is closer to Daniel, he also clarified that his relationship with Kathryn remained fine after the issue.
He recalled a particularly telling encounter with Kathryn when they happened to share an elevator while she was promoting Hello, Love, Again with Alden Richards. Rather than having an awkward interaction, the two greeted and embraced each other.
“In fairness po, pagpasok niya talagang same kami na, 'Kath!' tapos 'Jai Ho!' nagyakapan po kami and parang, Tito Boy, alam kong naiintindihan ni Kathryn where I am coming from at sinabi rin ng mga handlers na parang, 'Gets ni Kathryn kung saan ka nanggagaling, so 'wag kang mag-alala, love ka pa rin niya,'” sabi ni Jhai Ho.
For Jhai Ho, the experience highlighted the difficulty of maintaining friendships while being part of the public entertainment industry. His account also made clear that while he chose to defend Daniel at a difficult moment, it did not mean he had ended his friendship with Kathryn.

He gained widespread recognition as a prominent radio jockey on MOR 101.9 and as a host on various digital talk shows and showbiz segments.
In another report, DJ Jhaiho recalled an encounter with a celebrity whose behavior reportedly caught his attention for the wrong reasons during an event. The radio host shared the story while appearing as a guest alongside Chariz Solomon and Buboy Villar. According to Jhaiho, the celebrity repeatedly walked around the venue wearing sunglasses and appeared to be seeking attention from those around them.
Meanwhile, DJ Jhaiho recently opened up about being hospitalized after suffering from severe difficulty breathing while he was on a live radio broadcast. He later shared the incident on social media and announced his decision to quit vaping as part of a major lifestyle change. Several days after the health scare, Jhaiho gave his followers an update, saying his breathing had improved and that he had already returned to his radio duties without experiencing the same difficulty.
