Kapuso star Barbie Forteza shared a blunt take on relationship standards, calling out men who struggle to provide what she considers the bare minimum in treating the women they pursue.

Barbie discussed the topic during her appearance on the latest episode of Dani Barretto’s “The Bare It All Podcast” on Friday, September 4. She was joined by her “Saving Cherry” co-star Mika Salamanca, with the conversation also touching on their upcoming film, which began showing in cinemas on September 2.
The discussion shifted to standards in love when Mika explained how her expectations changed because of Barbie’s thoughtful treatment of her friends and co-workers.
“Kasi imagine mo sa taping po si Ate Barbie, isang beses lang namin sinabi sa kaniya kung ano 'yong favorite drink namin sa pag-o-order namin ng coffee, pero alam niya. Every time na nagte-taping kami, mayroon kaming naka-ready na mga coffee and drinks,” Mika shared.

Mika said Barbie’s simple gestures made her reconsider what people should expect from romantic relationships.
“So sabi namin, kung kaibigan namin si Ate Barbie, kayang gawin 'yon; kung kaya naming gawin 'yon sa isa't isa, bakit kami magse-settle for less?”
Dani praised Mika’s perspective, noting that friends can often provide the kind of love and support people need, although romantic partners still have a different role in someone’s life.
“Alam mo, ang ganda,” Dani said.
She continued by pointing out that friends can often fulfill many emotional needs, while acknowledging that a lifelong partner serves a different purpose.

“Actually,” segunda naman ni Barbie, “ang issue nga namin kasi, parang napakahirap kahit ‘yong bare minimum, teh. Hirap na hirap kayo. Si Matt Damon, 20 years ‘di nakauwi. Went to war. Kayo, bare minimum hindi n’yo kaya.”
Her remark became a playful but pointed comparison between the effort some women expect from men and the extraordinary example she brought up during the discussion.
Mika ultimately offered a practical suggestion for men trying to win over a woman: pay attention to how her friends treat her. By observing the small ways her friends show care, men may gain a better understanding of the treatment and effort she values.
