During her appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on Friday, August 28, the Saving Grace actress discussed her views on relationships and the importance of valuing oneself. For Barbie, choosing to be with someone is already an intentional act of giving that person her time, attention, and affection.
"Siguro po sa akin kasi the way I was raised is that pahalagahan mo 'yung sarili mo, and that's what I did. Ini-spoil ko nga 'yung sarili ko. I treat myself out, ganyan. Kumbaga, ganu'n ko kamahal ang sarili ko," the actress said.
She explained that because she chooses to give her time and love to another person despite having no obligation to do so, betrayal becomes particularly difficult for her to accept.

"So, loving another person na hindi ko kadugo, hindi ko kaano-ano, wala akong obligasyon para do'n sa taong 'yon, tapos niloko mo 'ko. Bakit?"
Barbie emphasized that being in a relationship means deliberately choosing to invest in another person. Because of this, she believes her time and attention should be treated with value and respect.
"Pinili kita. Hindi kita obligasyon, pero niloko mo 'ko. Bakit? Eh mahalaga ang oras ko, ang atensyon ko, well, that's just for me."
Her perspective, however, is not limited to cheating alone. Barbie noted that any behavior that makes her feel she has been treated as less important can become a serious issue in a relationship.
"At saka ano lang po siya, siguro, I guess, hindi lang cheating e. Basta anything that would feel me like I have been treated less," she added.
Boy Abunda summed up Barbie's sentiment with one word: betrayal.
"Betrayed,' Boy Abunda said.
The actress agreed, explaining that betrayal hurts because she has willingly given an important part of herself to someone she trusted.
"Yes. Oo, kasi binigay ko 'yung sarili ko sa 'yo, oras ko, pagmamahal ko, 'di ba, most importantly, tapos binetray mo 'yung trust ko," she said.
For Barbie, the issue ultimately comes down to more than the act of cheating itself. It is about the trust, affection, time, and personal choice invested in a relationship—and what happens when those are not treated with the same value.
