Marites Odarbe expressed her admiration for award-winning Kapuso broadcast journalist Kara David after their intimate conversation on the podcast “I-Listen.”

Odarbre shared several photos of herself and David embracing in a Facebook post on Tuesday, September 8. Her post focused on the journalist's warm and accepting treatment toward her despite the physical challenges she experienced during their meeting.
In her caption, Odarbe candidly described how she was dealing with excessive sweating and drooling at the time. She also mentioned that the situation was made more noticeable by the smell of massage oil.
“I would understand talaga kung nadiri si Ms. Kara David dito kasi naman super nag-excessive sweating na ako, super naglaway as in drooling to the max, naghalo pa sa amoy ng langis na panghilot,” she wrote.

Odarbre also acknowledged that she could not fully appreciate the smell herself because she had already lost her sense of smell.
“[C]an you imagine ( ako kasi wala na ring sense of smell e) the smell but still look at her embrace.”
Her post drew a reassuring response from David, who made it clear that she did not see Odarbe's condition as something to be embarrassed about.
“Naku, bakit naman ako mandidiri? Sobrang kahanga-hanga po kayo Ma'am Maritess.”
David then highlighted Odarbe's strength and the impact of her story on others.
“You are an inspiration. Saludo sa inyong tatag!” the veteran journalist added.
Odarbre has been living with Parkinson's disease for three decades. Despite dealing with the condition, she has continued to pursue different endeavors, including becoming a book author and motivational speaker.
Parkinson's disease is a progressive disorder of the nervous system that primarily affects movement. According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, the condition can worsen over time as nerve cells in a specific part of the brain become damaged and eventually die.
Common symptoms may include difficulty with movement or balance, uncontrollable hand tremors, and muscle stiffness.
For Odarbe, however, her experience with the condition has not stopped her from inspiring others. Her interaction with David highlighted not only her openness about the challenges she faces but also the journalist's encouraging response to her vulnerability.
Their warm exchange resonated with the message Odarbe shared through her photos: that compassion and genuine respect can make a meaningful difference, especially when someone is navigating a difficult personal journey.
Kara David is an acclaimed Filipino broadcast journalist, television host, and documentary maker known for her compelling investigative reporting on GMA Network's flagship programs like i-Witness and Brigada. Beyond her media career, she is an advocate for child welfare and education, founding the Project Malasakit foundation to support underprivileged youth.
In another report, Kara David welcomed five Project Malasakit scholars to Manila for a special reunion and mentoring workshop. Among them was Omnia Ebrahim, who traveled from Marawi, while Dizza endured a 24-hour boat trip from Sibuyan Island to attend the gathering. Despite growing up under challenging circumstances, the scholars have continued pursuing their education and working toward their dreams.
Meanwhile, Kara David had an emotional reunion with Lilian, whom she first encountered when she was only three years old in 2007. Lilian, who is also known as Ekang, has since earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration after becoming a Project Malasakit scholar through Kara’s initiative. The program helped her continue her education despite the challenges she faced growing up.
