Veteran journalist and documentarist Kara David recently reunited with Lilian, also known as Ekang, the young girl featured in her “iWitness” documentary nearly two decades ago.

Nineteen years after their first meeting, Kara shared an emotional update about Lilian, who was only three years old when she became the subject of the 2007 documentary “Sa Mata ni Ekang.” At the time, Lilian was living in the slums of Metro Manila and had been orphaned at an early age.
Now an adult, Lilian has reached a major milestone in her life. She has graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, a journey that Kara proudly documented through photos of their reunion.
On Instagram, Kara posted two photos taken 19 years apart to show how much Lilian has grown since their first meeting.

Kara then celebrated Lilian’s latest achievement and reflected on how far the young woman has come since appearing on the documentary.

The journalist also congratulated Lilian and expressed how proud she was of her accomplishments.

Lilian’s journey has also been marked by profound family loss. According to Kara, her mother passed away when she was only 10 years old.
In a separate post, Kara shared more photos from her reunion with Lilian and her family. She also gave followers an update on what happened to them since their last conversation in 2007.
“Her father is now working and is very active in church. Her brother is in college, her lola is retired. Unfortunately, her mother passed away when Ekang was just 10 years old. Happy to report that Ekang/Lilian is now surrounded by a good environment,” sabi ni Kara.
Kara’s posts highlighted not only Lilian’s academic achievement but also the changes her family has experienced through the years.
