A 21-year-old nursing student, died after she was allegedly strangled by her cousin inside her home in Barangay Sto. Cristo, San Antonio, Nueva Ecija.

According to a report on GMA's "Unang Balita," authorities initially responded to the house after the incident was reported to 911 as an apparent súicide.

However, police became suspicious while looking into the circumstances surrounding the student's death.

Investigators learned that one of the victim's two cellphones was missing. They later traced the device and reportedly found it in the possession of her male cousin.

The suspect was then arrested and questioned by authorities. Police said he eventually admitted his involvement in the student's death.

Based on the initial investigation, the man allegedly went to his cousin's house because he wanted to borrow P5,000.

The student reportedly refused to lend him the money. Police said an argument followed before the suspect allegedly strangled her.

Authorities also said the man claimed he committed the crime while under the influence of alcohol and in a state of intense anger.

The suspect is now facing a murder complaint in connection with the incident.

Other reports identified Fajardo as a fourth-year nursing student at Wesleyan University-Philippines in Cabanatuan City. Police said the incident happened on September 6.

Her university also released a statement mourning her death and condemning the incident. The school described the young woman as a dedicated student, a cherished friend, and a promising future nurse.

Authorities continued their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the case as the suspect faced the complaint filed against him.

In another report, A school in Barangay Sauyo, Quezon City was robbed of more than P313,000 worth of equipment and cash after two men allegedly entered the compound past midnight on Saturday. He was later seen inside the administrative office, where he appeared to search through the area. His alleged accomplice was also captured by a security camera.

Meanwhile, a man was shot dead outside a school in Barangay Prinza, Teresa, Rizal, on Thursday afternoon, triggering a police manhunt and leaving his family grieving. According to a report by GMA News' "Unang Balita," the victim was shot in the head at around 4 p.m. The gunman reportedly escaped immediately after the attack.

Recently, a mother and her 13-year-old son were injured after they were allegedly attacked with a bolo while sleeping inside their home in Barangay Paril, Cebu City. According to a report on GMA's Unang Balita, the incident happened after the 22-year-old suspect reportedly caused trouble during a dance in the barangay.
