During the interview, host Boy Abunda asked the two celebrity parents how they felt after learning that a 15-year-old and a 14-year-old were allegedly involved in the fatal shooting inside school classrooms.
“Bilang mga magulang, noong narinig n’yo na may 15 years old at may isang 14 years old hawak ang mga baril, namaril doon sa loob ng classrooms, ano ang inyong naging reaksyon?” Boy asked.
Yasmien first expressed her sympathies to the families who lost their loved ones, saying the tragedy was almost impossible for any parent to comprehend.

“Una ho sa lahat, nakikiramay po ako sa mga naulila… Hindi ko ma-imagine na mauuna pa sa’yo ’yung anak mo,” she said.
The actress then emphasized that seemingly minor incidents inside schools should never be ignored because unresolved issues could eventually lead to far more serious consequences.
“Sa nakikita ko, ticking bomb talaga siya dahil kung paano i-handle ng mga schools ’yung mga maliliit na incidents, tapos hindi nila tinutuunan ng pansin, tapos biglang sasabog, ’yung mga nangyayari ngayong violence,” she explained.
Yasmien also stressed that parents should regularly communicate with their children and pay close attention not only to their academic performance but also to their emotional health.
“Kaya nga importante na sa bahay talagang lagi mong kausapin ’yung anak mo, tingnan mo ’yung mga unusual behaviours niya. Hindi lang kasi academics ’yung dapat tsini-check sa bata, dapat ’yung emotional well-being din ng bata.”
Alfred Vargas likewise admitted that the news deeply affected him as a father.
“Grabe, kinilabutan ako sa takot as a parent. Ang sakit, nakakadurog ng puso… As a father naramdaman ko ’yung sakit ’tsaka ’yung gulat na sobra na talaga,” he said.
The actor-politician pointed to bullying as one of the major concerns that should be addressed, noting that investigators had also mentioned it as a significant issue in the case.
“Nag-uugat kasi ’to sa pambu-bully eh, lalo na narinig natin from PNP, sinabi nila malaki ang bullying issue dito. And for me, sinabi ko talaga sa sarili ko, any form of bullying should not be tolerated.”
Their comments come amid renewed discussions on campus safety, bullying prevention, and the importance of mental health support for young people.
