Former talent manager Wilbert Tolentino recently shocked the entertainment industry by dropping explosive revelations concerning a much larger sum of money tied to illegal solicitations involving his former talent, Kapuso actress Herlene Budol.

The controversy erupted following Budol’s public release of a direct message from a politician identified as “Gov,” who allegedly attempted to purchase a one-night stand for ₱100,000.

In a personal statement published on his Facebook page, Tolentino bared the underlying issues behind the scenes, noting that the financial offers presented to him during Budol’s pageant career actually exceeded the amounts publicised by the actress.

“Ang dami nag approach at nag inquire sa akin ng indecent proposal ma pa kapwang celebrity at bugaw ng mga politician. Mas malaki pa sa 150K ang offer at sila na daw bahala sa akin,” says Tolentino.

The prominent manager strongly hit back at critics and middlemen who assumed he would exploit his artists for high-paying under-the-table transactions, reiterating his clean track record in the industry.

“Akala nila siguro sa akin alipin ako ng salapi. E ni singkong duling never ako kumukuha ng commision kht may pa raket sa mga kapwang artist at influencer,” states Tolentino.

Tolentino also called out individuals who mistake an artist’s promotional swimsuit photo shoots for personal availability, clarifying that exposing skin is strictly part of an entertainment marketing portfolio.

"Hindi lahat nakikita nyong post ni Hipon na SEXY Swimsuit ay feeling nyo pwede nang e alok o garahe. Eto ay maaring makakuha ng endorsement para sa kanyang karera. Ikaw lang ang mabilis gumawa ng ending," he further added.

The management contract between the two was formally dissolved in July 2023, after Tolentino chose to step down to preserve his personal schedule, though he notes that Budol is still bound for immense career growth in the industry.
