Breaking his silence on a painful chapter in his personal life, award-winning actor Elijah Canlas has opened up about the end of his five-year relationship with actress Miles Ocampo.

In a recent one-on-one interview with talent manager and host Ogie Diaz, Elijah addressed the swirling rumors and confirmed that they have indeed parted ways already this year.

"Yeah, as much as we've been trying to, I've been trying to keep it private, kasi syempre I'm going through it. Pero dahil lumalabas na 'tong lahat, I think it's time for me to say na, opo, totoo siya. Out of respect for Miles, I will always have love for her," Elijah stated.

When asked why their relationship came to an end after trying to make it work again, Elijah admitted the heartache of realizing that love alone wasn't enough for the two of them.

"Yun yung masakit na part about it, Mama Ogs, kasi nga we got back together thinking na, 'This is it.' But yeah, that's what happens with relationships, binigay namin lahat and we broke up mutually and very amicably. Walang hate, at least on my part. Masakit yun ganung klase na [breakup], yung mutual na wala naman talagang problema, pero na-realize niyo lang na baka hindi talaga match," he explained.

Regarding the gossip and theories circulating on social media about them, Elijah acknowledged that being in the public eye naturally invites commentary, even when it stings hard.

"Yung pag-speculate ng mga tao, wala na kaming magagawa. We're public figures, it comes with the job. Minsan masakit kasi syempre hindi nila alam yung totoo, wala naman silang alam, and that's how I'd like to keep it. Yung mga pinagdaanan namin, amin yun."

When Ogie asked if he and Miles remain on friendly terms, Elijah expressed his honest thoughts about it.

"Friends... I don't know if I can say that now. We broke up amicably, yes, but syempre we were together 5 years, Mama Ogs. Parang it's not easy to just jump back to being friends like that, it's been a couple of months pa lang. It's been very fresh. But I'd be open to it. She's a great person," Elijah shared.

Elijah Canlas is a critically acclaimed Filipino actor and commercial model. He began his acting career at age 14 with the independent film Sundalong Kanin. He gained widespread recognition for his lead role in Kalel, 15. In 2024, he was honored as Best Primetime Drama Actor at the Platinum Stallion National Media Awards for his performance in ABS-CBN's Senior High which he starred in alongside other big Kapamilya artists.
