SM Supermalls, dineny viral post na di umano nila tinatanggap folded na bagong 1K bill: “Misleading”

- SM Supermalls has released a statement denouncing the viral post claiming that one of their stores rejected a folded new P1K bill

- In their official statement, SM assured the public that folded bank notes are accepted in their retail stores

- The statement further clarified that only mutilated notes, which included those stapled or ripped resulting from staple wires being removed, are not accepted

- SM further discouraged the public from engaging with some social media posts that the superstore called “misleading”

SM Supermalls has released a statement denouncing the now-viral post made by a netizen claiming that an SM store rejected a new P1K bill which has been folded.

In their official statement, SM assured the general public their SM Retail Stores still accept “folded bank notes.”

“In response to the information circulating on social media regarding the new Ps1000 bill, we would like to assure the public that folded bank notes are still accepted in our SM Retail Stores” the official statement read.

SM also clarified that the only bank notes they would reject are those deemed to be mutilated.

These include bank notes that have been stapled or have been ripped which resulted from staple wire’s removal.

“Only those that are mutilated - stapled and ripped caused by removal of staple wire - will be deemed unfit and not accepted,” the statement further read.

The retail giant also assured the public that it has already considered the guidelines set forth by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

“Our policy has considered the guidelines set by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas,” SM stated.

In parting, SM also asked the public not to engage with similar social media posts, which the retail giant called “misleading.”

“We encourage the public not to engage with the misleading social media posts,” SM Supermalls said in their official statement.

Aside from the issue with the bills, one of the things that has also gotten the name of SM Malls on a number of social media pages was when the MOA globe "disappeared."

Celebrities like Angel Locsin, Alessandra De Rossi and K Brosas previously posted about the Mall of Asia globe. The iconic globe became the talk of the town due to allegations that it was stolen. MOA even released a public notice stating that the mall is working with the authorities.
