The family-oriented film, which stars Padilla and veteran actress Maricel Soriano, officially opened in cinemas on September 9. The premiere brought together the cast and guests as they celebrated the movie’s theatrical release.
Amid online speculation about Padilla’s relationship status, the actress was asked about having a date at the event. The question came after she had been spotted several times with a non-showbiz personality, fueling curiosity among fans about whether someone special had entered her life, ABS-CBN News reported.
Instead of directly naming a romantic partner, Padilla jokingly pointed to her co-star and onscreen “Inay,” Soriano.

“Meron! Si Inay Marya [Soriano] ang date ko tonight. Kaya, magkatabi kami later,” she said.
The lighthearted exchange continued when Padilla was asked whether she might finally make a “jowa reveal” anytime soon. The actress made it clear that there was no relationship announcement to make at present.
“Jowa reveal? Wala pa. Pag nagka jowa na siguro ako,” Padilla answered.
Padilla then added another playful detail, saying that any future boyfriend would have to receive Soriano’s approval.
“Ina-approve po ni Inay,” she teased.
Soriano joined in on the joke and imagined how Padilla might approach her once the actress eventually enters a relationship.
“Kapag nagka-jowa si Bela sasabihin niya agad… Ay kailangan i-approve ko,” Soriano teased.
Their exchange highlighted the warm bond between the two actresses, who are part of the cast of “Life After You,” a family movie directed by Marla Ancheta.
Also appearing in the film are Dani Zee, Ryza Cenon, Marlo Mortel, Gardo Verzosa, and other members of the ensemble cast.
Beyond the questions surrounding her personal life, Padilla also shared her thoughts on the experience of watching a family movie in theaters. For her, going to the cinema can become a meaningful occasion shared with loved ones.
“Ang ganitong klaseng pelikulang pang-pamilya masarap panoorin sa sinehan, iyung sabay-sabay kayong magbibihis, bibili ng popcorn tapos magdate kayo ng pamilya niyo or ng loved one niyo, magiging event siya,” Padilla said.
While speculation about Padilla’s love life continues to attract attention online, the actress’ comments at the premiere made her current status clear: there is no “jowa reveal” to announce yet, while Soriano remains the playful choice for her premiere-night date.
