An unidentified man died after he was allegedly caught taking a fighting rooster in Consolacion, Cebu, according to a report on Balitanghali.

Police said the 52-year-old owner was sleeping when he woke up and noticed that someone was allegedly taking his fighting rooster.

He then confronted the man. During the encounter, the owner reportedly struck him in the head with a hardened piece of cement.

The man later died following the incident.

Authorities took the rooster owner into custody after what happened. Police said he is expected to face a hόmicide complaint in connection with the man's death.

The Balitanghali report did not disclose the identities of either person involved.

Based on the account shared with police, the incident started when the owner woke up and saw that his rooster was allegedly being taken.

No further details were given about how the man entered the area or how long he had been there before the owner noticed him.

Meanwhile, a man was shot dead outside a school in Barangay Prinza, Teresa, Rizal, on Thursday afternoon, triggering a police manhunt and leaving his family grieving. According to a report by GMA News' "Unang Balita," the victim was shot in the head at around 4 p.m. The gunman reportedly escaped immediately after the attack. A viral video of the incident showed the victim lying on the ground while his live-in partner stayed beside him carrying their infant child. Barangay officials and tanods quickly responded to clear the area, especially after students and residents gathered near the scene.
