The musician and television host made the candid remarks during his guest appearance on MJ Felipe's Are You G?, where he also toured viewers around the new home he built in Cavite with his wife, Andie Aguirre.

Having been part of It's Showtime since it debuted in 2009, Jugs reflected on how the program has evolved from what was originally intended to be a short-lived production into the country's top noontime show.

Apart from his television career, Jugs has also remained active as co-lead vocalist of the band Itchyworms, which is now celebrating its 30th year. Asked how he balances both commitments, he said discipline has always guided his decisions.

"As much as possible, ayaw kong umabsent sa Showtime. ‘Yung gigs, kailangan talaga nandun ako. Pero ‘yung Showtime, pwede naman akong umabsent technically. Pero as much as possible, ayokong uma-absent. Kahit noong grade school pa lang ako ayoko uma-absent."

He revealed that the band has even declined certain performances because of his commitment to the noontime show.

“May mga gigs kaming ‘di nakukuha dahil ayokong uma-absent.”

Jugs also described the demanding routine he follows whenever the band performs outside Metro Manila, often taking separate flights just to ensure he arrives in time for live tapings.

"First flight sila, aalis na. Ako, kukuha ako ng flight after ng Showtime. Hindi lang ‘yun ah. Eh di tu-tugtog kami sa gabi, matatapos kami 12, matutulog ako. First flight uuwi ako kasi mag-Showtime ako."

Despite the hectic schedule, he insisted that he never considers it a sacrifice.

"It’s really not a sacrifice. Kasi I don’t feel like it’s a job for me. Masaya siya eh."

The conversation later shifted to the playful exchanges among the It's Showtime hosts, which often lead viewers to wonder whether anyone gets offended behind the scenes.

Jugs dismissed the idea that the hosts still get upset over their on-air jokes.

"Hindi na. ‘Yung joke time, wala na ‘yun. Wala nang nagkakapikunan."

He compared the cast to a real family, acknowledging that disagreements naturally happen but explaining that they ultimately strengthen their bond.

"Sa totoong buhay, ang mga pamilya, wala namang perfect ‘diba? Siyempre, may mga tampuhan. Pero hindi mo rin mafa-fake ‘yung friendship. Dahil nga sa mga tampuhan, kaya mas nagiging close kayo."

Jugs also said the show's growing lineup of hosts allows everyone to support each other whenever someone needs time off for personal matters or other projects.

"Kaya nga nagdagdag ng maraming tao para may sumalo du’n sa mga taong [wala minsan]. Sa totoo lang, may ginagawa rin sila – all these people are artists, di ‘ba? Kunwari, si Vice, nag-absent siya for one month, kailangan ‘yung iba mag-step up to fit in the gap."
