Alden Richards became emotional as he looked back on his past relationships, heartbreaks, and the lessons he gained from years of searching for love.

The Kapuso star opened up about his romantic experiences during his appearance on Gandang Gabi Vice, where host Vice Ganda encouraged him to talk candidly about relationships that did not reach the next level.
Alden revealed that he had two official relationships during his high school years. However, when it came to his relationships in showbiz, many were what Vice described as “almost but not quite.”

"Hindi ko rin alam, e. Siguro ako ba [ang] problema?" Alden candidly replied.
The Code Grey actor explained that in previous relationships, either he or the other person eventually decided to walk away. He said his most recent relationship ended differently because both parties eventually chose to leave.
Alden admitted that the other person appeared to be the one who gave up more toward the end.
"Ang hirap talaga kasi I feel like it's not my piece to say. Kasi ako yung lalaki sa sitwasyon," Alden said when Vice asked about his perspective.
Looking back, Alden said his experiences taught him not to make absolute promises about how he would handle love in the future.
"Ang one thing na natutunan ko sa whatever happened with that relationship is never say never. 'Wag mong bigyan ng ultimatum yung sarili mo dahil sobrang saya mo sa sitwasyon. Kinain ko yung mga sinabi ko noon," he shared.
Alden also admitted that he had spent around 15 years looking for love. He acknowledged that the pressure to settle down can become difficult, especially because of expectations surrounding relationships in Filipino culture.
"Ganoon tayo mga Pinoy, we live in a culture of deadlines...But I don't think that's how I want to live my life right now," he reflected.
Rather than actively searching for someone, Alden said he has chosen to leave the matter in God's hands and remain open to whatever or whoever may eventually come into his life.
"So after noong last, sabi ko noon 'di ko na hahanapin. Mabubuhay ako ngayon sa kung ano yung tingin na bigay ng Diyos para sa akin. May it be a circumstance, a person. Hindi ko sinasabing hindi ako mai-in love [o] hindi ko hinihintay yung taong darating para sa akin. Kasi for the longest time hinahanap ko yung taong para sa akin. So baka for a change, hintayin ko naman siyang dumating," he added.
Vice shared his hopes that Alden would eventually find someone who would be willing to fight for their relationship when the timing was right.
The conversation then became more emotional when Alden realized that his long search for romantic love may have been connected to something deeper within himself.
"For the longest time na naghahanap ako ng pagmamahal from another person, na-realize ko, pagmamahal pala sa sarili yung kulang," Alden shared, becoming emotional.
Vice comforted the actor and reminded him of how much he had given to other people throughout his life.
"Because your heart is very generous. You have been giving so much to the world," Vice praised.
Alden then reflected on how he had often prioritized other people while questioning whether he had done the same for himself.
"Sobrang, all my life I've been doing a lot of things for other people. But for myself?" Alden said between his sobs.
His emotional reflections also connect with his earlier comments about learning how to move on. Alden previously said that he had mastered the art of moving forward after heartbreak, something he related to his character Jao in the romantic comedy series Love, Siargao.
"Si Alden kasi noong pumasok si Jao sa buhay niya, doon lang kasi yung part ni Jao na sabi ko, parang baby naman 'to si Jao when it comes to closure," he said.

He explained that Jao could already recognize the signs coming from Ali but continued to pursue the relationship.
"Parang kita niya na lahat ng signs that Ali is giving, pero persistent pa rin siya. I mean, there's nothing wrong about that, but you have to be practical and realistic when it comes to those kinds of situations, diba."
For Alden, moving on is closely connected to gaining perspective and becoming more mature.
The actor is now preparing for his official return to Philippine television through GMA's upcoming medical drama series Code Grey.
