Joey Reyes confirmed that Sen. However, the veteran filmmaker revealed that the amount was not enough to finish the entire project as originally expected.

According to Reyes, the renovation was initially estimated to cost P150 million during the term of former FDCP chairman Tirso Cruz III.

“Dumaan kami sa kalahating butas ng karayom. Kasi originally, nu’ng in-estimate ‘yan ng kontratista ni then-chairman Tirso Cruz, ang ibinigay na presyo 150 million to build that building.”

He said the agency later received the budget through the efforts of Padilla.

When Reyes officially took over as FDCP chairperson, he was surprised to find that the project was still far from complete.

The revelation left Reyes wondering how the agency would secure the remaining funds.

Reyes recalled that he later raised the issue during a meeting with First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, who reportedly asked about the contractor handling the project.

According to Reyes, the First Lady instructed then newly appointed DPWH Secretary Vince Hizon to ensure that the project would finally be completed.

“So, doon medyo pumilintik ang tenga ng First Lady.

The Philippine Film Heritage Building is intended to become the country's central repository for Philippine cinema. It will house film collections, memorabilia, and preservation facilities while also serving as the new headquarters of the FDCP, the Cinematheque Centre Manila, and the Philippine Film Archive.

Jose "Joey" Javier Reyes is a highly acclaimed Filipino director, screenwriter, lyricist, and academician who has shaped Philippine cinema and television with his award-winning storytelling for over four decades. A multi-awarded visionary recognized by the Gawad Urian and the Metro Manila Film Festival, he also serves as the Chairman of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).

In another report, Robin Padilla said he considers himself a “Good Boy” in politics, arguing that corrupt public officials are the ones who truly deserve to be called “Bad Boys.” The actor-senator admitted that he finds the entertainment industry more enjoyable than public service because of the heavy responsibilities that come with government work. He also shared that his nephew, Daniel Padilla, could eventually headline a future installment of the “Bad Boy” movie franchise.

Meanwhile, Senator Robinhood Padilla continues to push for amendments to the law that would lower the country's minimum age of criminal responsibility to 10 years old. His proposal came after the June 22, 2026 campus shooting in Tacloban City, which prompted him to seek a special legislative session to address the issue and help prevent similar incidents. The measure has since sparked widespread public discussion, with many debating whether the focus should be on rehabilitation or stricter criminal accountability for minors.
