Police said the confrontation happened on August 13 along Quirino Highway in Barangay Pasong Putik Proper. The two groups had reportedly encountered each other earlier at around 6 p.m. and had an argument. Authorities said the situation was initially pacified.

However, another confrontation allegedly happened at around 9 p.m.

Investigators said members of the two groups went outside the billiards establishment, where the disagreement turned into a physical fight. During the altercation, one of the suspects allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the 16-year-old student.

Police later arrested an 18-year-old Grade 12 student during a follow-up operation.

Authorities also located a 15-year-old minor at the minor's residence, while another 16-year-old minor was surrendered by relatives. Both minors were Grade 10 students, according to the 24 Oras report.

Investigators identified the three as friends who attended schools different from that of the victim.

Police are also investigating allegations that the group communicated through their phones following the earlier disagreement and later planned another confrontation.
