The suspect was apprehended following an extensive police operation that involved tracking his movements through available CCTV recordings. Authorities said he did not resist arrest and cooperated when taken into custody.

Investigators discovered that the incident stemmed from a supposed cellphone transaction between the suspect and the victim, identified as Mohammad Sheikdugar.

The suspect allegedly pretended to be interested in purchasing the cellphone but claimed he did not have enough cash. He then offered to withdraw money from a bank and invited Sheikdugar and his girlfriend to ride in his SUV.

Upon reaching the bank, the suspect reportedly instructed the couple to get out and remove a chain blocking the vehicle's path. Instead of proceeding with the promised withdrawal, he suddenly accelerated and attempted to escape with the cellphone.

A dashcam recording later showed Sheikdugar clinging to the side of the moving SUV before eventually falling onto the road. The driver reportedly continued driving without stopping to assist him.

Sheikdugar's girlfriend has appealed for justice following his death.

“Sana po makuha talaga ni Mohammad ‘yung hustisya. Kasi hindi niya po deserve ‘yung ganu’n po,” she said.

His mother, Muslima Sarib Sheikdugar, also shared her final message for her son.

“Ang mensahe ko kay Mohammad, sana nasa paraiso siya,” she said.
