The buyer allegedly told the couple he could not find a parking space and asked them to enter his vehicle instead.
“Sabi niya, ‘Walang parking. Sumakay na lang kayo,’” his mother recalled in the report.
After getting the cellphone, the man allegedly said they would go to a bank, where he would pay the agreed amount of ₱57,000.
Upon reaching the bank, the driver reportedly asked Donalyn to step outside and remove an obstruction from the parking area. However, he still did not park, prompting the couple to become suspicious and try to retrieve their phone.
His mother said the buyer refused to return it and allegedly threatened them.
“Magbabayad naman ako eh,” the man supposedly said, according to her account. She added that he warned them, “Huwag kang ganyan. May baril ako.”
The victim then stepped out and tried to block the SUV from leaving. When the driver attempted to escape, he held on to the vehicle.
According to the report, he remained hanging on from Greenhills until he lost his grip near Ortigas. The dashcam recording captured him falling while the SUV drove away.
His mother described finding him receiving emergency treatment for bleeding. She said he later became unresponsive and could no longer speak.
The family is now appealing for justice. Relatives described him as a kind breadwinner who ran a business to help provide for them.
They also shared that he supported his youngest sibling’s schooling and that their father had already passed away.
Meanwhile, the report said police had the dashcam footage, although the SUV’s license plate could not be clearly seen.
GMA News had sought responses from Mandaluyong police and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority. Neither had responded by the time of the report.
