Ge Marquez and Martin Morales had just tied the knot at Albay Cathedral before heading to their reception at Sumlang Lake Phase 3 in Camalig on the evening of May 2, 2026. What was meant to be a joyful gathering soon took a surprising twist when Mayon Volcano began showing increased activity while the celebration was underway.
According to a report from “Saksi,” the eruption started around 6:00 p.m., as guests were enjoying the reception. Initially, the couple and attendees believed the volcanic activity was part of the volcano’s usual behavior, as it had been active for months.
“Una po nakita na namin na may activity sa Mayon. Since ilang buwan na din po siyang active parang normal na din syang occurence,” the bride shared.

However, as time passed, the situation began to shift. The smoke grew thicker and darker, prompting concern among those present.
“Kaso nu'ng tumatagal na, parang lumalaki and mas umiitim 'yung usok. Napansin din namin yung mga guests nagsilabasan na,” she added.
Despite the growing unease, the couple remained calm. They decided to prioritize safety and moved everyone indoors.
“Syempre kinabahan din kami [na] baka ma-cancel 'yung reception, pero so far, chill naman 'yung venue staff kaya [naging okay] naman,” she said.
The reception continued inside the venue, allowing the celebration to proceed without further risk. Fortunately, no one was harmed or exposed to ash during the incident.
Interestingly, before moving indoors, the couple even managed to take photos outside, capturing the dramatic sight of Mayon Volcano emitting smoke in the background—turning the unexpected moment into a unique memory.
“Pumasok na lang po kami sa hall to continue, [para] safer to stay put din kaysa sumuong pauwi at masalubong 'yun,” the bride explained.
Despite the unusual circumstances, the couple expressed gratitude that their wedding day remained safe and successful.
In another report, thirteen pet dogs were found dead inside a yard in San Miguel, Iloilo, with the owner suspecting poisoning as the cause. Rice mixed with a blue-colored substance was reportedly discovered near the area, raising concerns about a possible toxic material. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the nature of the substance and how the incident occurred. Police are also working to identify those responsible, who could face charges related to animal welfare violations.
Meanwhile, a 29-week pregnant woman had to be airlifted to another city after several hospitals allegedly refused to admit her, leading to the loss of her unborn child. She was first taken to a clinic after experiencing bleeding, but her condition worsened later that night. Reports stated that six medical facilities declined the transfer request due to a lack of specialists and other limitations. She eventually arrived at a hospital hours later, but the fetus was already declared dead upon arrival.
