Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition Big Winner Mika Salamanca opened up about the importance of self-love and how her changing perspective on relationships helped her understand what may have gone wrong in some of her past romances.

Mika discussed the topic during her appearance on the latest episode of Dani Barretto’s “The Bare It All Podcast” on Friday, September 4. She joined her “Saving Cherry” co-star Barbie Forteza as the conversation touched on friendship, loyalty, relationships, and love.
The discussion began when Dani asked Mika whether she believed self-love remained important even when someone was already in a relationship.
“Would you think that it’s important to have self-love even if you’re in a relationship with someone?”

Mika immediately agreed.
“Oo naman po.”
However, the actress and former reality show contestant admitted that she did not always subscribe to the idea of prioritizing self-love while loving someone else.
She recalled that when she was younger, her approach to love was centered on constantly giving to the person she cared about.
“Kasi noong bata ako, give, give, give,” Mika believed.
“Love is the most [important thing]. Sobrang lakas ng emotion na ‘yon sa akin. May nakapagsabi noon sa akin, si Ate Donna, na parang ‘Paano mo mamahalin ang ibang tao kung ikaw mismo hindi ka pamilyar paano mahalin ang sarili mo?’”
At the time, Mika said she rejected the advice because she viewed giving love to another person as something that also fulfilled her own emotional needs.
“Nire-reject ko ‘yong gano’ng thought. Kasi ang sinasabi ko lagi parang ‘Kasi that’s how I love. When I love someone, it’s a way of loving myself too. Pero ngayon growing up, ‘pag palagi ginawa mo ‘yon, uubusin ka ng tao.”
As she grew older, Mika said she eventually came to understand the advice she once dismissed. She realized that constantly giving too much of herself to others could leave her emotionally drained, especially when she failed to make room for her own needs.
That realization also prompted Mika to look back on her past relationships. She acknowledged that one possible reason they did not work out was her tendency to prioritize loving and caring for the other person instead of taking care of herself.
Through her reflection, Mika showed how much her perspective on love has changed over time. Her experiences taught her that loving someone deeply does not have to mean losing sight of her own worth and well-being.

Mika chose not to elaborate on what happened between them, saying it was something they could discuss another day. Despite the past rejection, both Will and Mika emphasized that their friendship has grown stronger and remains important to them.
