The woman was first taken to an obstetrics clinic after experiencing bleeding. According to a report by Global Nation Inquirer, her condition worsened later that night when the fetal heart rate dropped.
Medical staff at the clinic contacted emergency services at around 11 p.m. to request a transfer to a hospital with more advanced facilities. However, several hospitals reportedly declined to accept the patient.
Authorities said six hospitals refused the transfer. Reasons included a shortage of available specialists and other operational limitations at the time.

Due to these refusals, the patient had to be transported much farther than expected. Emergency responders eventually arranged an airlift to another city located about 280 kilometers away.
The transfer took approximately three and a half hours from the initial emergency call. By the time the woman arrived at the receiving hospital, the fetus had already died.
Despite the tragic outcome, the mother is now in stable condition, according to authorities.
Reports also noted that emergency responders had to coordinate extensively before securing a hospital that would accept the transfer. This added to the time it took for the patient to receive advanced medical care.
Authorities have not yet announced if there will be an investigation into the series of refusals or the protocols followed during the emergency.
