Lea Salonga made history after officially receiving her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, becoming the first Filipina to earn the prestigious recognition.

The award-winning singer and actress unveiled her star during a ceremony held on September 4 in Hollywood, California.
According to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Filipino theater icon received the 2,855th star in the Live Performance category. The ceremony was held in front of the Pantages Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard.
Photos from the event were also shared on the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce's social media pages, celebrating the historic moment for Lea and the Filipino community.

Several well-known personalities attended the ceremony to honor the singer's career.
Entertainment journalist Sibley Scoles served as the event's emcee. Brandy, Ming-Na Wen, and Darren Criss were among those who delivered messages for Lea, while Filipino-American musician H.E.R. was also present.
The recognition adds another major achievement to a career that has already included several historic milestones.
Lea is widely known for originating the role of Kim in the musical "Miss Saigon." Her performance earned her a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical in 1991, making her the first Asian woman to win the award.
She also became familiar to generations of Disney fans as the singing voice of Princess Jasmine in the 1992 animated film "Aladdin."
Years later, the singer provided the singing voice of the title character in Disney's "Mulan." Ming-Na Wen, who voiced Mulan's speaking parts, was among those who celebrated Lea during the Hollywood ceremony.
The Filipino star was later named a Disney Legend in recognition of her contributions to the company.
During her Walk of Fame speech, Lea looked back on how far her career had taken her.
She also shared a message for young Filipinos who may one day see her name while visiting Hollywood.
"I hope that someday a young Filipino kid comes to Hollywood, sees my name and thinks, 'Oh, maybe I can get here too,'" she said.
Her guests also spoke about the influence she has had on artists from different generations. Brandy highlighted how Lea's work as Jasmine and Mulan helped open doors and gave young audiences someone they could identify with.
Lea Salonga stands as a legendary global icon renowned for her breathtaking vocal talent and historic theater achievements. She captured international stardom by originating the role of Kim in Miss Saigon, securing a Tony Award as the first Asian woman to win the honor, and later shining as Éponine in Les Misérables. Her timeless legacy also includes voicing Disney princesses Jasmine and Mulan.

Meanwhile previously, the Broadway legend openly responded to a supporter's question about her decision regarding BTS members RM and J-Hope. She confirmed unfollowing the two K-Pop stars on Instagram after they were spotted with Chris Brown, clarifying it was done for personal peace of mind. While noting that performers are free to make their own choices, she stressed that supporters likewise possess the autonomy to set boundaries. Despite choosing to step back from following them, she expressed that she still holds a deep sense of appreciation for the group.
