Francine Diaz has directly addressed the recurring blind items that have portrayed her as snobbish, difficult to approach, or “maldita,” saying she remains puzzled by the claims because she is often simply quiet.

The actress opened up about the issue during an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN while attending the photoshoot for A Cake To Remember, an upcoming iWant microdrama series premiering on August 28. While much of the conversation focused on her experience filming the vertical series, Francine also took the opportunity to clarify how she believes people perceive her.
Francine explained that being quiet, particularly when she is exhausted from work and dealing with pressure, can sometimes be mistaken for having a negative attitude.
"Siguro hanggang ngayon 'yun pa rin kasi lagi akong nami-misinterpret for being quiet, na maldita, na hindi ako nakiki-mingle, especially when I'm exhausted from siguro the pressure and doing too much work," she said.

Rather than deliberately distancing herself from people, Francine said she is still trying to find the right balance between being reserved and being more playful and sociable around others.
"Pero hanggang ngayon, I'm trying to find the balance between pagiging tahimik and 'yung ingay o 'yung kulit. Parang I'm finding 'yung silver lining, kung saan ba 'yung tamang timpla," she said.
She also emphasized that she does not want people around her to feel uncomfortable, noting that she herself understands what it feels like to be uneasy in a social setting.
"Ayoko rin naman na parang maiilang sila when kasama nila ako kasi ganyan din 'yung nafi-feel ko. So, I think mas ganon. Kasi ayoko rin naman na ma-misinterpret nila ako and at the same time, I want to be present naman with everyone na I'm surrounded with," she added.
Francine acknowledged that the increasing number of blind items prompted her to speak about the issue.
"I mean, I get a lot of blind items lately," she said.
The actress admitted that she finds the repeated claims particularly confusing because she generally keeps to herself.
"I'm just saying kasi laging name-mention 'yung name ko and I am very, very confused because most of the time, tahimik lang talaga ako," she said.
She also pointed out the difficulty of finding the right behavior when people can form negative impressions whether she is quiet or expressive.
"So I don't know saan nakukuha 'yun. Kasi 'pag tahimik, may masasabi. Kapag you're being loud, meron pa rin. So parang that's where I'm finding where the balance is," she added.
Instead of allowing public perception to dictate how she carries herself, Francine said she is learning to filter the comments she receives. She recognizes that some criticism can help her improve professionally, while other remarks may simply be unnecessary bashing.
"Parang I'm trying to teach myself na 'wag i-pressure 'yung sarili ko sa perception ng mga tao. May mga criticisms na professional nilang sabihin na minsan papaisip ako na, 'Oo nga no. Siguro I should be more like this and like that.' Or 'pag bumati ako, baka pwede kong maidagdag or bawasan," she said.

"Pero now, I'm teaching myself din to find the difference between constructive criticism and 'yung bashing," she added.
