Authorities have already taken into custody two minor suspects believed to be involved in the attack. As public outrage continues to grow, many have renewed calls for stricter measures against juvenile offenders.

Amid the heated discussions online, Vargas shared her perspective through a Facebook post, addressing the growing demand to lower the age of criminal liability and impose harsher penalties on young offenders.

“Yan ang sigaw ng karamihan sa nakaka basa ng balita tungkol sa sunod sunod na karahasan na nangyayari sa ating mga paaralan.”

She noted that many people believe lowering criminal liability to 12 years old could discourage minors from committing crimes.

“Sinasabi nilang kung ibababa ang criminal liability sa 12 years old, madadala ang mga kabataang ito."

However, Vargas argued that the issue should not be viewed solely through the lens of punishment.

“But it is not that simple. Bago tayo tumalon sa ipapa kulong na natin ang mga menor de edad na ito, silipin naman natin kung nasan nag uugat ang problema. Because this problem is more complicated than we think.”

The actress pointed out that schools are expected to be safe spaces where students can learn and develop. According to her, violence inside educational institutions often reflects deeper problems that require long-term solutions.

“Schools are supposed to be safe sanctuaries for learning. When violence reaches classrooms, it points to systemic issues—ranging from inadequate campus security to unaddressed bullying and gaps in mental health support.”

Vargas also stressed the importance of giving greater attention to bullying, which has been cited as one of the factors connected to the recent tragedy.

“With bullying cited as a core trigger in the recent shooting, anti-bullying policies must move past paperwork into active enforcement.”

She then posed a question that resonated with many of her followers.

“Paano umabot sa punto na nilagay na ng mga bata sa kamay nila ang batas? Kailangan nating tanungin yan sa ating mga sarili.”

Before ending her message, Vargas clarified that her statements should not be interpreted as a defense of the crime committed by the suspects.

“P.S. Before you come at me sa comsec- HINDI KO KINUKUNSINTE ANG KRIMEN. Umayos kayo sa kumento at unawain ang sinulat ko,” aniya pa.

Her remarks have since generated discussions online, with some agreeing that the root causes of violence deserve closer examination, while others continue to push for stricter accountability measures for minors involved in serious crimes.
