The consequences, she emphasized, are both heartbreaking and ironic.

“Isipin mo, ang mga taong gumagawa ng ating pagkain ay NAGUGUTOM?!” Vargas wrote.

Expressing disbelief over how those who produce food are now among those struggling to eat.

She further questioned the lack of visible government support for rural communities.

“Nasan ang tulong pinansyal sa kanayunan galing sa gubyerno,” she said.

Highlighting concerns over insufficient aid. Vargas added that this issue also explains why vegetable prices remain high in Metro Manila, as fewer products are able to reach the market.

Beyond raising awareness, Vargas also called for collective action. She encouraged the public to support Benguet farmers through donations or by directly purchasing their produce. She explained that unsold goods are often left to rot due to transportation challenges.

“Mag tulungan po tayong mga Pilipino,” Vargas urged.

Stressing the importance of unity during this crisis.

Her message underscores a pressing issue that affects not only farmers but the entire food supply chain, reminding Filipinos of the critical role these workers play in everyday life.
