While Marina acknowledged that not everyone would agree with or support her hosting performance, she admitted she was shocked by the severity of the reactions she encountered online.
“And while I understand that there will be different opinions and some resistance to it, I did not expect the vile & alarming amount of transphobia, hate and even death threats thrown at me. Moreso, the hate and harassment being thrown to my sister, Angel.”
The performer strongly condemned the hateful behavior circulating online and emphasized that such actions go against everything she stands for as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
“This is not what I stand for.
This NEEDS TO STOP.”
Marina also reflected on how hard many members of the LGBTQIA+ community have worked to gain acceptance and representation in mainstream spaces. She stressed that spreading hate toward others only damages the progress they have fought for.
“Sa lahat ng trabaho at success na pinaghirapan natin, dala dala ko ang pag asa na iaangat nito ang pagtanggap sa LGBTQIA+. While I was admittedly hurt by her statements, I do not condone any hurtful and hateful words thrown at her because of it. Huwag itong gamitin excuse para manira ng kapwa. It just sets us back and everything we’ve worked so hard for just loses its meaning.”
The drag queen then reminded netizens that while everyone is entitled to their opinions, criticism should never cross the line into disrespect and harassment.
“Everyone is entitled to their opinions. What you are not entitled to is disrespect.”
Marina also thanked those who continued to support her throughout the controversy and encouraged her followers to choose compassion and understanding instead of fueling negativity online.
“While I may not be able to change everyone’s opinion, I would like to call on everyone who believes in me. I am truly grateful for all the outpour of love and support. I ask that you only spread love, grace and kindness to the people around you.”
Toward the end of her statement, Marina revealed that she and Angel had already privately resolved their misunderstanding. She then urged netizens to give Angel space and stop the online attacks.
“Angel and I were able to resolve things privately. Let’s give her space and understanding.
Maraming salamat sa pag-unawa.”
Many netizens praised Marina for addressing the issue calmly and maturely despite the criticism directed at her. Others also commended her for discouraging harassment and standing firmly against transphobia and online bullying.

As for Angel, she has publicly apologized for her controversial post:
Bea Millan-Windorski entered the Miss Universe Philippines competition with a strong pageant background already behind her. Before capturing the national crown, Bea previously won the title of Miss Earth USA 2024 and later finished as second runner-up at the Miss Earth 2024 competition. During the Miss Universe Philippines 2026 finals, she consistently stood out in both the swimsuit and evening gown segments. Her articulate and emotional answer during the final question-and-answer round, particularly regarding her heritage and identity, helped secure the admiration of both the judges and the audience.
Recently, Joy Barcoma publicly came to Bea Millan-Windorski’s defense amid criticisms questioning her identity and authenticity. Joy highlighted Bea’s involvement in Filipino causes and praised her resilience despite online scrutiny. Bea herself also addressed negative comments about her appearance and shared that Fatima Bosch inspired her to stay confident and strong through criticism.
Earlier, La Union delegate Bea Millan-Windorski was officially crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2026 during the coronation night held on Saturday, May 2, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. Bea triumphed over delegates from across the country and is now set to represent the Philippines at the upcoming Miss Universe international competition later this year.
