"They’re amazed at our output when our budgets are so low," Padilla said, lamenting the lack of local pride in the country's cinema.
"I always get sad when I hear a Filipino put down a local film...because I see foreigners appreciate our work more than we do."

She expressed her optimism over the proposed bill, which aims to address critical issues like fair equity for creatives and producers, and better protection for women working on film sets. Padilla pointed out that while countries like the UK have made strides in uplifting female filmmakers, the Philippines is still working on providing basic protections.

"I was happy to see representatives from CEAP who single-handedly helped my film A Special Memory sell out," she shared, praising those who have supported her work.

Though Padilla had to cut her stay short to return to filming, she remains committed to helping the local film industry.
