Yeng Constantino finally revealed why she and fellow Pinoy Dream Academy alum RJ Jimenez never took their relationship to the next level, despite years of speculation surrounding their closeness, reported ABS-CBN.

The two singers sparked dating rumors during and after their stint on the reality singing competition. Their chemistry became even more noticeable when they performed the popular duet “If We Fall in Love,” leading many fans to wonder whether there had been something more between them.

During the second day of Yeng's Byaheng Bente concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, RJ brought up their past and encouraged her to tell their story.

“Matagal kong hinintay to. Ano yung sasabihin mo kanina? Meron kang sasabihin bago ko sabihin yung gusto kong sabihin. Ano ba yung nangyari sa atin?” RJ said.

Yeng then admitted that jealousy played a major role in what happened between them. She revealed that she became jealous of RJ's manager at the time and allowed her pride to influence how she handled the situation.

“Pinagselosan ko yung manager niya. Sobra akong nagselos tapos sobra akong ma-pride. Sabi ko ‘Pag eto talaga sinagot nito sakin ‘Wala akong ginagawang masama ah’ hindi ko na ‘to papansinin forever.’ Yun nga ang sinabi (ni RJ).” she shared.

According to Yeng, she eventually stood by her decision to stop talking to RJ, even though she admitted that she liked him.

“Paano ko babawiin ang aking pangako sa aking sarili? Pero ganon kami sa pamilya, di ba papa? You have to honor your word. Pag sinabi mo gawin mo, eh nasabi ko, kahit gusto ko siya, hindi ko na siya pinansin,” she added.

The revelation took another unexpected turn when Yeng disclosed that RJ later married the same manager she had once been jealous of.

“But you know what? Napangasawa niya yung manager niya. Ms. Tin, ngayon alam mo na. Ikaw ang puno’t dulo ng hangganan ng aming relasyon,” Yeng expressed.

Yeng insisted that she was not angry, while RJ took the opportunity to apologize for the misunderstanding that had kept them apart.

Yeng Constantino is one of the most recognized singer-songwriters of her generation in the Philippine music industry. She first captured the public’s attention after emerging as the winner of the first season of Pinoy Dream Academy in 2006, a victory that paved the way for her successful career in OPM.

Meanwhile, Yeng also created a kilig-filled moment when she went down from the stage to serenade Ryan Bang during her 'Biyaheng Bente' concert. A video of the heartwarming interaction, which was shared by talent agency Cornerstone Entertainment, quickly gained attention online.
