UP reclaims top spot on the 2016 bar exam results

The University of the Philippines reclaims this year's top spot in the bar exam results. The BAR exam results were released around 11 a.m. on May 3, 2016.

Out of 6605 takers, 1731 successfully passed the exam. With no adjustments made to the passing rate, and it remained at 75% with the national passing average at 26.21 %.

Rachel Angeli Miranda tops 2016 bar exams.

Rachel Angeli Miranda, an examinee from UP College of Law, had a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the UP College of Mass Communication, garnered an average of 87.40%.

During the interview, Miranda says she was overwhelmed and still cannot process the fact that she passed the exam, and more importantly, topped the bar. She humbly says that she has never topped any exams before.

Aside from being a cum laude, Miranda also received an award for Best Thesis for their research in Cheaper Medicine Act, and was a champion for the International Moot Court competition held in Oxford University in United Kingdom.

Miranda is 1 of 4 examinee from UP College of Law who made it to the top 10 of this year's bar exams. Along with them are three examinees from Ateneo de Manila, two from San Beda College, two from the University of San Carlos in Cebu, one from Xavier University, Cagayan de Oro, and another one from Bulacan State University.

The oath-taking will take place on June 16, 2016 at the Philippine International Convention Center.
