According to the Manila Police District (MPD), authorities served the suspect with a warrant of arrest issued last year by the Regional Trial Court Branch 6-FC Manila for 10 counts of qualified ra*pe.
Police said the victim reported the alleged abuse to authorities in 2024. The suspect was allegedly entrusted with the responsibility of watching over and guiding the child.
"'Yung biktima, may boyfriend na. 'Yung stepdad naman niya, nagkaroon siya ng opportunity na para magalaw 'yung biktima," said Police Lieutenant Charlie Carbonell, Duty OD of the Barbosa Police Station.

Based on the police investigation, the suspect allegedly sexually abused the victim several times. Authorities said the alleged abuse continued until the victim reportedly became pregnant.
After the alegations surfaced, the suspect allegedly went into hiding. Police said he was eventually tracked down years later in Marikina City, where he was reportedly working as a helper.
The accused, however, denied ra*ping the daughter of his former live-in partner. He claimed that the victim's boyfriend was the person responsible for her pregnancy and said he was willing to undergo DNA testing.
"Gusto ko kasing matapos na 'tong problema na 'to, sir eh, para malinis na 'yung pangalan ko eh. May jowa jowa siya. Ngayon, 'yung jowa niya, 'yun po 'yung mismong nagsabi na isumbong mo 'yan sa mama mo para makaganti ka dahil sinumbong ka na may jowa ka," said the accused.
The suspect will remain at the Barbosa Police Station while authorities wait for the court to issue a commitment order.
Meanwhile, efforts are still underway to obtain a statement from the victim's family. Police have yet to release further details about the case as the legal proceedings continue.
An educator who survived an earlier shooting incident at San Jose National High School in Tacloban previously recalled the terrifying experience of being unexpectedly targeted by an armed student during class hours. Witnesses said the young suspects allegedly fired their weapons along the school corridors before entering classrooms and attacking fellow students. Authorities confirmed that three people were killed in the violent incident, while several others sustained injuries. Investigators are also looking into claims from members of the community that bullying may have been a possible factor behind the shocking attack.
Meanwhile, the Department of Education previously described the separate violent incidents in schools in Leyte and Cavite as isolated cases, rejecting concerns that they reflected a growing pattern of campus attacks nationwide. The agency ordered a comprehensive review of security protocols to strengthen the protection of students and school personnel both within campuses and in surrounding areas. Education officials are also working with local police units to increase visible and rotating security patrols in school zones. Following the emotional trauma caused by the incidents, authorities are likewise moving to provide psychological first aid and longer-term counseling support for affected students and faculty members.
