Setting the record straight on malicious cheating accusations and viral clips, Elijah Canlas did not hold back as he cleared the air regarding his sighting with Thea Astley during his one-on-one interview with Ogie Diaz.

When asked by Ogie how he would respond to netizens calling him a "cheater" following his breakup with longtime partner Miles Ocampo, Elijah immediately dismissed the rumors and said it is not true at all.

"It's not true. Like, Miles would know, it's not true. People close to us would know that it's not true. There's no third party involved. Walang ganun talaga ever," Elijah stated. "Pero I don't want to come off as defensive kasi kaya like even when the press people ask, I try not to say that... Pero yun yung totoo na wala naman talaga," he added.

Elijah also addressed the clip circulating online that showed him and Thea at a public market in La Union.

"Out of respect for Miles and out of respect for Thea, I guess kailangan ko sabihin na OA naman ng mga tao. They made a mountain out of a molehill, there was no molehill to begin with," Elijah shared. "Thea and I are just friends and we've been friends for a while. And it wasn't just the two of us in Elyu, we were with our other friends."

He went on to debunk claims that they were being romantic or holding hands in the viral video clip too:

"Kung papanoorin ulit yung video, di ko siya hinawakan sa kamay. Yung headlines kasi 'holding hands' daw ganun. Di ko siya hinawakan sa kamay, inurong ko lang po siya dito kasi pipicturan ko sila... People blew it out of proportion and that was really unfair for me, unfair to Thea, unfair to Miles, unfair to everybody involved."

Elijah highlighted that he has respect for the five years he shared with Miles and is in no rush for romance.

"Wala akong bago. I'm just coming off fresh from a breakup. She is just my friend. It's not time for that at all. Right now I'm focused on work, I'm focused on myself. I was in a relationship for five years. That's a long time of my life and those five years, I don't regret any of it. Those were the best five years of my life."

He concluded that jumping into a new romance would be a dishonor to himself and his past relationship, reiterating that he hopes the public stops spreading baseless rumors about people they do not know.

Elijah Canlas is a critically acclaimed Filipino actor and commercial model. He began his acting career at age 14 with the independent film Sundalong Kanin. He gained widespread recognition for his lead role in Kalel, 15. In 2024, he was honored as Best Primetime Drama Actor at the Platinum Stallion National Media Awards for his performance in ABS-CBN's Senior High which he starred in alongside other big Kapamilya artists.

The actor admitted that the pain of losing JM has never faded despite the passing of three years.
