Lovely Abella recently opened up about a series of unexpected health concerns that she described as another way God has been testing and strengthening her faith.

The actress took to social media to share a deeply personal reflection after undergoing dental treatment and later having her back checked because of numbness in her left arm.
Lovely began her post by describing God as the “God of surprises,” explaining that she regularly prays for more surprises in her life. However, she said she has come to realize that not every surprise necessarily comes in the form of something pleasant or exciting.
“Everyday kasama po sa dasal ko na LORD more of surprises po at ang surprises hindi lang puro magaganda ngayon habang nagrereflect ako, ang surprises pala ni LORD eh kakaiba, testing of Faith and Trust,” she wrote.

One of the unexpected experiences happened during what was supposed to be a routine visit to her dentist.
Lovely said she initially went to the dentist because she wanted to change her existing mock-up. However, the appointment unexpectedly turned into a procedure that required anesthesia after something in her gums that was causing pain had to be cleaned.
“Kahapon ang pinunta ko po sa dentista ko, para lang magchange kami ng existing mock up, tapos ang nangyari ininjectionan ako ng anesthesia kasi may nilinis sa gums ko na cause ng pain na kailangan mag anesthesia,” she recalled.
The experience was particularly uncomfortable for Lovely because she admitted that anesthesia injections are something she strongly dislikes.
“Knowing na yan talaga pinakaayaw ko mag anesthesia 😅,” she added.
The following day brought another unexpected medical concern.
Lovely said she decided to have her back checked after noticing numbness in her left arm. According to the doctor she consulted, the symptom appeared to be connected to a pinched nerve caused by muscle tightness, which the doctor attributed in part to her heavy workouts.
What followed was an MRI, something Lovely admitted she found intimidating.
“Tapos biglang MRI naman, hindi pala biro ang MRI aside sa mahal siya, nakakatakot siya,” she shared.
While inside the MRI machine, however, Lovely said she turned to prayer. She described talking to God while listening to a worship song as the loud sounds of the machine filled the room.
“Tapos habang nasa loob ako, kausap ko si Lord while nagwoworship song at naglalaban ang ingay ng machine,” she wrote.
During that moment, Lovely reflected on everything she believes God has brought her through.
“Sabi ko Lord grabe mga pinagsamahan natin everyday, grabe ang mga surprises mo sakin 🙏🏻,” she recalled.
Rather than allowing fear to overwhelm her, Lovely said the experience gave her another opportunity to recognize what she considers God’s presence in everyday life.
“My reflection is ang dami niyang tinuturo sa bawat nangyayari sa buhay natin everyday,” she said.
For Lovely, remembering God’s presence changes the way she views difficult circumstances. She encouraged others to include God in their daily experiences, saying that doing so can help people recognize that they are not alone.
“During this moment wala ako pinanghawakan kundi ang mga salita niya kasi don may Truth,may Peace, may comfort, may Love kahit magisa lang ako I feel His presence,” she shared.
She also described how worship helped transform the fear and anxiety she initially experienced.
“While worshipping God during sa mga oras na yun, I worship Him for His Goodness dahil sa kabila ng lahat ng takot at pangamba ko pinalitan niya yun ng kakaibang feeling. Thank you LORD,” Lovely wrote.
The actress acknowledged that everyone encounters different struggles and uncertainties in daily life. She said there are situations that people may not immediately understand, but she believes such moments can also become opportunities to deepen one’s trust in God.
“God is still in control,” Lovely emphasized, adding that the difficulties people face today may strengthen their faith and prepare them for what lies ahead.
She concluded her reflection by sharing Isaiah 41:10, a Bible verse about God’s presence, strength, help, and protection:
“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
Lovely Abella is a Filipina actress and comedienne associated with GMA Network, with credits spanning television programs, movies, and variety shows. Her profile grew further after she appeared in the commercially successful film “Hello, Love, Goodbye,” which starred Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards.
