In Gabriel Gonzalez’s report for GMA’s Saksi, the victim said the argument began when he asked his kumpare to repay money he allegedly owed him. The suspect reportedly became angry and insisted that he had no debt.
Their disagreement escalated into a physical confrontation. According to the report, the victim kicked the suspect before the incident ended in a stabbing.
“Hindi po kami nagkaintindihan,” the injured man said as he recalled their argument.

He acknowledged that their exchange involved physical aggression and hurtful words. However, he said he did not expect his kumpare to enter their home and attack him after he turned his back.
“Hindi ko naman po alam na pagkatalikod ko eh papasok po siya sa amin,” he said. “Bigla niya lang po akong sinaksak.”
The report stated that the suspect allegedly entered the victim’s house and stabbed him in the left side of his chest. His relatives then sought help from barangay personnel.
The suspect voluntarily surrendered to the barangay following the incident. However, the knife allegedly used in the stabbing was not recovered.
An authority interviewed by Saksi said the suspect was arrested after they confirmed that the victim had been stabbed. He underwent a medical examination before being brought to the police.
The suspect gave a different account of the confrontation. He denied owing his kumpare ₱120 and claimed that he was suddenly kicked.
“Nagulat po ako, bigla po akong sinipa,” he said.
He also alleged that the victim and his companions attacked him together. According to his account, he ran toward a house when the victim appeared ready to strike him again, before the confrontation ended in the stabbing.
The two men’s statements differed on whether there was an outstanding debt and on the circumstances surrounding the attack. While the victim said he was stabbed after turning his back, the suspect described being physically confronted before the incident.
Both accounts were presented in the report. The alleged debt remained disputed, with the victim saying he had asked for payment and the suspect maintaining that he owed nothing.
When asked whether he regretted what happened, the suspect answered, “Opo.”
His expression of regret, however, did not change the victim’s decision to pursue a complaint against him. The injured man stressed that the attack had put his life in danger.
“Yung buhay ko muntik niyang kunin,” he said.
According to Saksi, the suspect was in the custody of Antipolo Police Community Precinct 2 and was facing a complaint of frustrated hŏmicide.
