The victim, a sari-sari store owner, was not hit by the gunfire. The suspect’s 23-year-old brother, who was also allegedly involved in the incident, managed to escape.
In James Agustin’s report on GMA’s Unang Balita, police brought the arrested man to the Talipapa Police Station after the incident in Barangay Sauyo.
Police said the confrontation began when the store owner told the suspects not to park their motorcycle in the area. What started as a parking disagreement allegedly escalated into an exchange of words and gunfire.

An officer interviewed in the report said the arrested suspect allegedly urged his companion to attack the victim.
“Ang sabi nung unang suspect, yung nahuli, ‘Ah, tol, birahin mo yan,’” the officer said while recounting the police account of the confrontation.
According to the officer, the victim was then fired upon but was not struck. The shooting caused a commotion in the area.
Police officers who were on patrol heard the gunshot and immediately responded. They subsequently arrested the 25-year-old suspect.
Authorities said they recovered a firearm loaded with ammunition and 24 grams of suspected shabu valued at more than P163,000 from him.
An officer also said information from the Firearms and Explosives Office indicated that the suspect lacked the required licenses to own and carry a firearm.
Investigators had requested a forensic examination of the confiscated weapon. However, the officer said the results were still pending at the time of the report.
Police also raised the possibility that the suspects could be involved in robbery and the sale of illegal drúgs. These were presented as possible links being examined, rather than confirmed findings.
The report further stated that the arrested man had previously been apprehended over theft and illegal drug cases. It did not provide details about the outcome of those earlier cases.
Meanwhile, the suspect denied the allegations against him and gave a different account of why he was at the location.
“Kakarating ko lang din nung araw na yun eh,” he said in the interview.
He claimed that he had only asked his younger brother to pick him up. He also disputed the police account of the recovery, saying the drúgs and firearm were found in his brother’s motorcycle rather than on him.
According to the report, the suspect will face complaints for attempted hόmicide, as well as alleged violations of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and the Comprehensive Dangerous Drúgs Act.
