A man was arrested after allegedly breaking into a house in Barangay Kanumay West, Valenzuela City, and taking jewelry and watches worth more than P1 million.

According to Gabriel Gonzalez’s report on GMA’s Unang Balita, police cornered the suspect inside the house after the homeowner alerted her child about the intruder.

The incident happened on Thursday, according to the report. The items taken included various pieces of jewelry valued at P800,000 and two expensive watches.

Authorities recovered the valuables from the suspect. They also allegedly found an unlicensed firearm loaded with ammunition inside his belt bag.

The homeowner was in her bedroom when she heard a sound coming from the adjoining room, where the walk-in closet was located. According to police, she heard the doorknob moving as though someone was trying to open the door.

She immediately sent a message to her child, who was staying in another house toward the front of the same compound. At the time, the suspect was allegedly taking jewelry and watches from her closet.

After receiving the message, her child went outside and encountered patrolling police personnel. The officers were members of the police detective unit, according to the account shared in the report.

They responded to the call for help and found the suspect still inside the property. Police then cornered him and recovered the items he had allegedly taken.

Investigators also described how the man reportedly reached the upper floor of the house. According to their account, he stepped onto air-conditioning units before passing through a sliding window on the third floor.

That window was identified by police as his entry point into the home. The homeowner’s message to her child led to officers being alerted while he was still inside.

During an interview included in the news segment, the suspect admitted what he had done. He spoke about financial difficulties and struggling to find work before apologizing for his actions.

“Pasensya na lang po sa nagawa ko,” he said.

At the time of the report, he was being held at the Valenzuela Police Station. Authorities said he would face complaints for robbery and illegal possession of firearms following the incident.

Police also said the suspect had previously been jailed in connection with trespassing and illegal drúgs. Those details were presented in the report as part of the authorities’ account of his history.

He was later seen inside the administrative office, where he appeared to search through the area.

Meanwhile, A 23-year-old man was arrested after allegedly stealing a firearm from the home of a retired judge in Pandacan, Manila. A pair of slippers left inside the property helped authorities identify and locate the suspect. More than 30 minutes later, CCTV footage showed him leaving the property in a hurry. His face was covered, and he was no longer wearing slippers.
