During the red carpet arrival for The Filipino Music Awards 2026, music fans and media crews were expecting typical sleek suits and leather jackets. Instead, the band arrived in hilarious old-age looks, instantly stealing the spotlight from traditional red carpet looks.
Frontman Jay Contreras stepped onto the carpet sporting braided long gray hair, wire-rimmed glasses, a goatee, and a wooden cane, walking with an exaggerated slow limp.
His bandmates followed suit, showing off fluffy white afros, gray dreadlocks under trucker hats, and tinted shades while struggling to pose for photographers.

The clip, shared by concert platform PhilConcerts with their signature track 'Doo Bi Doo' in the background, quickly blew up across social media, raking in over one million views as fans shared the laugh-out-loud moment.
Rather than rushing past the cameras, the band fully committed to the bit, waving shakily at the cheering crowd, groaning humorously, and posing stiffly in front of the media wall.
At one point, Jay used his cane to steady himself while looking into the camera lens with a weary, grandpa-like squint that had nearby photographers cracking up.
Their playful entrance gave the high-profile awards night a refreshing burst of humor, showing off the effortless charisma and lack of pretension that have endeared Kamikazee to Pinoy rock listeners for over two decades.
Here are some of the comments from netizens:
"Si Jay ba yan o si Mama Coco?"
"Pati edad ko na-question ko pa!"
"Lalakas pa rin ng trip, Kamikazee lang."
"HAHAHAHAH napa-“ga*o ganyan na ba sila katanda?” AKO HAHAHAHAHA"
"Time flies talaga. Pinapakinggan ko lang 'to nung bata ako eh HAHAHAHA."
As previously reported by KAMI, fellow OPM artist, Chito Miranda admitted he arrived late and did not know he would be joining Kamikazee onstage. The singer said he stayed quietly at the side during “Narda” because he felt shy about suddenly jumping into the performance. Chito recalled running toward the stage after band members Jay Contreras and Jomal Linao started looking for him mid-song. Despite their playful jokes about age, Chito said he deeply values his friendship and bond with Kamikazee.
Meanwhile, in 2025, Jay Contreras of Kamikazee took to IG and posted a photo at the beach with Jacqui Manzano. In the caption, the band's frontman said that he already missed Jacqui. A netizen then asked if the girl in the photo is the new girlfriend of Jay, which he neither admitted nor denied. Chito Miranda, Jay's friend, jokingly replied to the netizen that the girl was the 'pamangkin of Jay'.
