The attack reportedly led to a chase. The same account said the driver was stabbed again in the back after the two reached another area.

“Nagkahabulan pa po sila,” the interviewee recalled while explaining what happened after the initial attack.

The victim sustained three stab wounds in his back. At the time of the report, he remained in the hospital, where he was recovering from his injuries.

An acquaintance of the driver also shared a possible explanation for what happened before the stabbing. According to the interviewee, the victim would give the suspect coffee and had told him to get some from a nearby store.

“Kasi laging binibigyan ng kumpare ko ng kape ’yun,” the acquaintance said.

The interviewee suggested that the suspect might have thought the driver was making fun of him. However, this was the acquaintance’s interpretation, and the report did not establish it as the confirmed motive.

The suspect’s own account of the incident was also unavailable in the segment. The news team said it was still trying to obtain statements from both him and the injured driver.

Following the attack, police conducted a follow-up operation that resulted in the suspect’s arrest.

Authorities said the victim positively identified the man as his attacker. However, officers did not recover the bladed weapon allegedly used in the stabbing.

The suspect was being held at the Malabon City Police Station and was facing a complaint of frustrated hŏmicide, according to the report.

A barangay representative also claimed that the suspect had previously been involved in a case concerning the stabbing of his sibling. The segment did not provide further details about the status or outcome of that earlier case.

The representative additionally mentioned an alleged health condition and said the suspect’s siblings had been helping him receive treatment. These statements came from the barangay interview and were not accompanied by medical confirmation in the report.

No statement from the suspect was included to address those claims or explain his version of the attack.
