A 29-year-old man was arrested after allegedly stabbing his cousin following a dispute over money in Barangay Escopa 3, Quezon City.

According to a report by James Agustin on GMA News' Unang Balita, the incident happened inside the house where the cousins were staying.
Police said the suspect had reportedly been drinking before the altercation happened.
Authorities said the 23-year-old victim was suddenly attacked after he asked the suspect about an issue between them.

“Yung ating biktima ay nakalabas na sa hospital pero may injury siya sa likod at sa kanyang kamay,” a police officer said in the report.
A 20-year-old relative who attempted to intervene was also hurt during the commotion.
“Yung isa naman na biktima ay may mga gasgas at bruises sa kanyang mga braso,” the officer added.
Based on the initial investigation, police said the suspect reportedly became aggressive after drinking.
“Tinanong siya at bigla na lang itong ating suspect, inundayan ng saksak itong ating biktima,” the officer said.
Relatives also reportedly told authorities that the suspect had a tendency to look for trouble whenever he was intoxicated.
“Sabi po ng mga kamag-anak nila, pag nakakainom ay madalas ang hanap nitong ating suspect ay gulo at away,” the police officer explained.
Police later conducted a hot pursuit operation and arrested the suspect while he was allegedly preparing to flee.
Authorities also recovered the bladed weapon allegedly used in the incident.
The suspect admitted his involvement and said the argument reportedly started over the division of money they earned from collecting recyclable materials.
“Akala po nila kasi na ginugulang ko po sila,” he said.
“Nangangalakal po kami, sir,” the suspect added.
He also acknowledged that there had already been disagreements between them in the past.
According to the report, the suspect had previously been jailed over a theft case.
He is now facing complaints for frustrated hŏmicide, grave threat, and physical injury in connection with the latest incident.

A viral video of the incident showed the victim lying on the ground while his live-in partner stayed beside him carrying their infant child.
