The issue surfaced after entertainment reporter Jeff Fernando, who attended the September 15 press conference, noticed that Yasser was present at the event but did not participate in the question-and-answer portion. The gathering was held ahead of the release of the film’s director’s cut on streaming platform VMX.
Jeff recalled being surprised when Yasser was no longer around during the Q&A, especially since both actors had initially arrived for the media event.
“Share ko lang din, kasi andoon ako during that time, during that presscon. 'Tapos, nagulat kami, wala si Yasser sa Q and A. So, anong nangyari?” Jeff said.

Robb quickly clarified that there was no walkout. According to her, she was the one who suggested that Yasser refrain from joining the Q&A to prevent possible complications involving his management.
Yasser further explained that when Desperada was produced, the original agreement was primarily for film festivals and screenings outside the country. The movie was first shown at the Sinag Maynila Independent Film Festival in March 2026 before eventually being acquired by VMX.
Robb emphasized that her decision came from concern for Yasser’s career and not from any personal issue with the event.
Siyempre, concerned din,” she said.
She also rejected claims that Yasser’s absence was simply an act of attitude or being difficult.
“Kasi ayaw ko rin naman pong maapektuhan, siyempre, yung work niya,” she added.
The actress directly addressed the criticism surrounding the incident, saying:
Yasser, for his part, maintained that he fully supports Robb and wanted to be present during the press conference. However, he said he did not want to make a decision without considering his management’s position.
“All out support din ako s'yempre kay 'lablab.'
After the couple explained the circumstances behind his absence, Yasser ended the discussion with a lighthearted remark:
“Ay ewan ko talaga, ewan ko talaga.”
