Three employees of a bank became victims of a robbery incident in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, after armed suspects allegedly intercepted their vehicle and took away P1.6 million in cash.

Based on a report by Unang Balita, the victims came from a bank branch in Libona and were supposed to deposit the money at a branch in Manolo Fortich. However, before they could reach their destination, unidentified suspects reportedly attacked them and opened fire on their vehicle.

Police said the assailants suddenly riddled the victims' vehicle with bullets during the incident. Despite the attack, the three bank employees were not injured.

A bank security guard who was accompanying the employees reportedly fought back and exchanged gunfire with the suspects. However, he eventually ran out of ammunition, allowing the robbers to flee with the money.

The victims did not provide any statement following the incident.

Authorities immediately launched a follow-up operation to track down the suspects. During the operation, police discovered the pickup truck believed to have been used by the robbers. The vehicle was found abandoned in a secluded area within the municipality.

As the investigation continues, police are exploring several possible angles behind the crime. One possibility being considered is that the robbery may have involved inside information.

"Inside job" is among the angles investigators are currently looking into as they work to determine how the suspects may have learned about the cash's movement.

Authorities have yet to identify the individuals responsible for the robbery and are continuing efforts to locate and arrest the suspects.

Meanwhile, the management of the bank has not yet released an official statement regarding the incident. Efforts are reportedly ongoing to obtain the side of the bank's officials as the investigation progresses.

Law enforcement officials indicated that the conflict was triggered by a disagreement regarding a request for fare money. The victim suffered several fatal injuries during the encounter and was pronounced dead prior to her arrival at the local hospital. Following the incident, the 33-year-old suspect was taken into custody by police and is anticipated to be charged with murder.

Still in other news, a 37-year-old resident of Bokod was apprehended for the alleged murder of his 74-year-old mother within their shared community. The grim discovery occurred when a nearby resident noticed remains partially exposed from a shallow grave in the area. Investigators uncovered forensic evidence and bloodstains within the residence that the suspect occupied with the deceased. Local police are currently conducting a deeper inquiry to determine the specific reasons behind this violent act.
